We are competing with countries with a much lower cost base than us. This means we have to be smarter, more agile and more innovative. In addition, to contribute to the green transition, we will have to design new and more efficient solutions with a smaller environmental footprint – both for us and our clients, as we move into the future," says Tommy Engholm, Sales Manager at Ydra.
People at the centre
Automation, robotics, sensors and all kinds of new technology are important, but Ydra believes it is crucial to put people first.
“It’s people who come up with ideas and who implement plans. That’s why we have made a conscious effort to bring in the right people, provide courses and training, optimise our workplace and establish a sound culture before taking on too many projects. People still make the world go round, and people must come before technology,” Engholm continues.
New premises
Ydra has moved into brand-new premises designed with people and the environment in mind, where high-tech solutions make it easier for the team to work on innovation projects. You can read more about their new workplace here.
Innovation projects
Blaastrom and Thorion are two of Ydra’s highest-profile innovation projects. Blaastrom is a new automatic system for ensiling fish waste. The system tackles one of the major challenges facing the farming and fishing industry by making it possible to grind large quantities of biomass much faster and more efficiently than before. Flow analyses, sensors and automation are key elements in one of the best systems on the market.
Thorion is a range of products that combine lightweight/low-energy AC and DC motors, flow optimisation and connectivity using sensor technology. The Thorion concept is are sponse to rising energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, based on Ydra’s world-leading expertise in pump systems. Ydra develops solutions that last, and sustainability is firmly integrated into all product development through Ydra’s Built-to-last philosophy.
It has to work
There is certainly no shortage of innovation projects at Ydra, quite the opposite. One of the company’s key tasks is to set priorities for their clients. “We must not forget our main objective, which is to develop pumps and pump systems of the highest quality, to enable our clients to operate even more efficiently. Our initiatives and innovation work must facilitate this, so it is vital that we have good people and a good arena to work in,” concludes Engholm.
